Leicestershire Music
In 1948, Eric Pinkett founded the first orchestra in Leicestershire, and possibly the Country, specifically for children and young people, holding its first performance at Church Langton Primary School – a school now recognised with Eric’s Blue Plaque.
Since 1948 countless young people in Leicester and Leicestershire have been supported, encouraged and inspired to pick up an instrument or to sing by Leicestershire Music. Previous guises include Leicestershire County School of Music, Arts in Education, and Leicester-Shire Schools Music Service.
Whilst over the years the name has changed, the core values have not!
Are you a young musician looking to take your playing to the next level, meet new people, and perform in amazing venues?
Whether you’ve just picked up an instrument or you’re already thinking about a future in music, Leicestershire Music has a place for you!
Come along to the Haymarket Theatre on Monday nights or Saturday mornings to what we have to offer.
Our bands and orchestras are all about playing together, learning together, and having fun through music.
With groups covering a wide range of genres from classical masterpieces and jazz to pop and film soundtracks there’s something for every musical taste and skill level. We have groups for anyone who plays an instrument from beginner to advanced level.
